The center of excellence in marine biomimicry in Biarritz (PEBM) aims to bring together researchers from the Pau University and Pays de l’Adour, the center of excellence and biomimicry study (CEEBIOS) and companies that develop innovation strategies based on the remarkable qualities of living organisms.
The architectural approach of this project is inspired by the biological model of the sea sponge. It considers the constraints related to the construction and integration of the building in a natural site on the ocean shore. This unprecedented approach tends towards a building optimized in its energy production and which integrates the principles of circular economy with a attention to the recycling of waste.
