Aix – Universities district is a historic university site completed in 1966. The Campus operation aims to meet the international universities standards by providing modernised and harmonised sites of excellence, has resulted in a project to renovate and extend of the existing buildings. Connection is one of the guiding principles: connection between the universities of Law and Arts, connection between the universities and the city, connection within each university.
The ambition of the project is expressed through the redevelopment of outdoor spaces, the creation of local restaurants, structures that can welcome the public and businesses, as well as places of cultural expression, a university library and a theatre.
The creation of this harmonious, welcoming and scientifically coherent living environment, optimising the reception, working and living conditions of the university community while considering its history and specificities, is part of an ambition to bring the greatest number of people to take up the challenge of higher education and integration through knowledge.
