Located in the heart of Euroméditerranée, on rue Forbin, this 194-room hotel is the first establishment in Marseille of the German hotel chain Meininger.

Built on the site of the former “Les Gens de Mer” hotel, which will be demolished in 2018, the L-shaped organization of the building reinforces and extends the historical Mirès grid, which is specific to this area of Marseille, and extends the perspective from Rue Chevalier Paul.

The slope of the site led us to work on two white, simple and uncluttered volumes for the upper floors, visually separated from each other by a gap. The base, which houses all the hotel’s common areas, and the attic, clad in champagne-coloured metal cladding, link the two volumes, and make it possible to visually free ourselves from the difference in levels between them.

The heart of the block is planted with Mediterranean species in order to create all the conditions for a pleasant and fresh exterior for the hotel’s common areas.
